Julie was awarded a grant from the Belgian Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS) involving 4 years of funding and the possibility to hire new research fellows. The grant involves an amount of 330 kEuros and the project will aim at better understanding the sources of urgency during decision making and their relationship to impulsivity.
The end of the year celebrations are approaching, the opportunity for the team to get together to celebrate Christmas (in advance!) and share a good time all together. Christmas was not the only thing to celebrate as Mantosh just joined our lab. After an international meal at the Wolff food Market, we walked around the Christmas market under a polar cold weather, and made discover the center of Brussels by night to the newcomers. A very nice evening to finish 2022 together!

Following this publication by our university, we had the opportunity to discuss our findings on Belgian national TV and radio, together with one of our patient participants. He took this opportunity to courageously share his story of Young Onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD), the importance of sport & mental strength and of participating in research; the feedback has been tremendously positive.

We are very pleased to share that Gerard Derosiere, postdoc in the lab for 8 years, has obtained a permanent researcher position at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM). Gerard has been part of the CoActions lab, working tightly with Julie on the contribution of motor structures to decision-making (e.g., Derosiere et al., 2017, NeuroImage; Derosiere et al., 2018, J Neurosci; Derosiere et al., 2022, PLOS Biology). Until he develops his own group at the Lyon research center for Neuroscience (CRNL, https://www.crnl.fr/fr), he is still largely active in the lab, joining at lab meetings, finishing up his postdoctoral work and still collaborating on several projects.
We had a Farewell party for Gerard and sent best wishes to him!
